Description

I reprocess this data with the recently learned techniques to good effect!

Here's what I did:

S, H and O masters:
dynamic crop
deconvolution
starXterminator (creating stars)
histogram transformation

SHO:
channel combination (SHO)
histogram transformation to line up peaks
extract luminance as lum
TGV Denoise
channel combination in lum
curves for contrast
pixel math in stars (max)

lum:
TGV Denoise
LHE (2 scales)
MLT sharpening

stars:
channel combination of stars created by starxtermitor (SHO)
histogram trasformation

original description for rev A below
--------------------------------------------------------
I can't really say anything about M16 that hasn't been said better elsewhere. I chose the SHO palette for this in homage to the classic Hubble Pillars of Creation image which introduced many of us to the SHO palette. Of course, our telescope can't complete with Hubble for detail but it costs an awful lot less!

Processing steps:

H:
dynamic crop
MLT noise reduction
deconvolution

O, S:
dynamic crop
MLT noise reduction
deconvolution
linear fit to H

SHO:
channel combination (SHO)
Invert, SCNR, Invert (to reduce magenta in stars)
Histogram transformation
Adam Block's star de-emphasis (two rounds)
LHE (2 scales)
Dark Structure Enhance scirpt
Curves (contrast)
Adv Sharpening
Dynamic Crop to final dimensions
