NGC 1502, ein offener Sternhaufen im nördlichen Sternbild Giraffe. Auch optisch einer der schönsten Sternhaufen des Nordhimmels. Die scheinbare Helligkeit beträgt 6,9 mag. Ausdehnung rund 20 Bogenminuten. Entfernung etwa 3400 Lichtjahre. Mit einer guten Konzentration zum Zentrum hin und großen Helligkeitsunterschied der einzelnen Sterne und mit nur rund 50 Haufen Mitgliedern gehört NGC 1502 zur Trumpler Klassifikation ist II 3 p. Mit ca. 11 Millionen Jahren ist dieser noch relativ jung. Im Zentrum dominieren O und B- Riesen, der hellste davon SZ Cam, ist ein Bedeckungsveränderlicher vom Algol-Typ. Es wird angenommen das der blaue Überriese Alpha-Cam den selben Ursprung hat.

NGC 1502, an open star cluster in the northern constellation Camelopardalis. Also optically one of the most beautiful star clusters in the northern sky. The apparent magnitude is 6.9 mag. Size around 20 arc minutes. Distance about 3400 light years. With a good concentration towards the center and a large difference in brightness of the individual stars and with only around 50 clusters of members, NGC 1502 belongs to the Trumpler classification is II 3 p. At around 11 million years old, it is still relatively young. The center is dominated by O and B giants, the brightest of which is SZ Cam, an eclipse variable of the Algol type. It is assumed that the blue supergiant Alpha-Cam has the same origin.
