Description

The medusa Nebula, Abell 21 or Sh2-274, is a very old planetary nebula in Gemini formed by the stellar evolution of a medium masse star that can be seen as a small blue dot near the more prominent arch. It is estimated to be over 4 light years and some 1500 light-years away. Despite its low  surface brightness estimated in between +16 an +25 magnitudes by using two narrow band filters H and O it could be easily captured with 600 minutes single exposures in Bortle 4 sky. The narrow band signal was blended with an RGB image to show the interesting group of galaxies on the SE background.
