Description

4 nights and 19.8 hours logged from my backyard in Wellington, NZ. I think it's complete!!

A bit more green than you'd usually see in a narrow band image, and much greener than my last version! This nebula looks great as a bi-colour with golden yellow and blues but I wanted to go traditional Hubble palette and keep some green in this one, so we could easily see the different emissions of this massive nebula.

Copper shows areas of ionised sulphur, green ionised hydrogen alpha and blue is doubly ionised oxygen. This gives us the SHO palette mapped SHO to RGB and allows for some incredible details.

**Processing:**

**Astro Pixel Processor**

*Pre-processing:*

Individual frames calibrated, analysed, registered and normalised.

Stacked in APP with LN Mad Winsor clipping and one iteration of 1st Local Normalisation Correction

**Pixinsight**

*Post processing:*

**Individual frames:**

* Cropped to remove stacking artifacts at the borders

* Linear fit to Oiii channel

* Deconvolution on Ha with a severly clipped lum mask and binary star mask generated by StarNet for local support and protection

* No noise reduction. These frames were pretty clean

* DBE

* Channel combination to combine in SHO

**SHO:**

* Background neutralisation

* Fix magenta stars with PixelMath

* SCNR at 25% to remove strong green cast

* Pre stretch S Curve tweak

* Taken non linear with Histogram Transformation over 4 iterations

* Multiple C S and RGBK curve adjustments

* Hue curve adjustment to bring out more copper and blue

* HDRMultiscale transform to reduce the hightlights a little

* Star reduction script

* Dark structure enchance script

* MLT Sharpening with a range mask minus star mask so we only target nebulosity ( mask generated again with StarNet. Really great tool!)

* Invert mask and reduce saturation of the background and stars with an S Curve adjustment

* With the same mask still applied small reverse midtone stretch to reduce the stars a little further

* Saved for further processing in Affinity Photo

**Affinity Photo:**

* Saturation and vibrance

* Selective colour adjsutment on the cyan and blue channels
