Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a distant interacting galaxy triplet located 250 million light years away in the constellation of Eridanus at a declination of -28 degrees. The object spans 1.1 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a length of 90,000 light years.

The 3 galaxy cores are the largest white regions in the object, connected by a stream of stars.  I like the shades of blue and purple throughout the object, reflective of the intense star formation occurring here initiated by the gravitational interaction.

I have included this object in my Galaxy Merger Stage C Collection, which now includes 30 galaxy objects in the mid stage of a merger, with their disks touching, their cores in close contact, and significant star streams present.
