Jones 1 ist ein planetarischer Nebel im Sternbild Pegasus. Er wurde von Rebecca Jones 1941 auf Fotoplatten entdeckt.

Mit einer Gesamthelligkeit von 12,7 mag, die Flächenhelligkeit beträgt lediglich 16,6 mag.

Der Nebel ist bereits 37.000 Jahre alt. Mit einer Ausdehnung von 5,3‘ x 5,3‘ beträgt die

tatsachliche Größe etwa 3,5 Lichtjahre.

Dieser leuchtet fast ausschließlich im Licht des zweifach ionisierten Sauerstoffs. Ein Ha-Alpha Bereich ist nur in einem Nebelfilament südlich von PK 104 -29.1 zu sehen.

Der Zentralstern 3UC241-308979 mit 16.65mag ist der türkisfarbene Stern in der Sternengruppe in der Nebelmitte. Die Entfernungsangabe des Zentralsterns beträgt

808 pc was 2634 Lichtjahre entspricht.

Ganz in der Nähe von PK 104 -29.1 befindet sich auch ein heller Quasar, [VV2006] J233604.7+302355. Er hat eine Rotverschiebung von z=2,094, was bei einer Hubble-Konstanten von 74,3 km/s/MPc einer Entfernung von über 9 Milliarden Lichtjahren entspricht.

Mit 17,7 Rmag ist dieser der hellste von gut einem Dutzend Quasare die sich in diesen Bildausschnitt befinden.

Jones 1 is a planetary nebula in the constellation Pegasus. It was discovered on photo plates by Rebecca Jones in 1941.

With a total brightness of 12.7 mag, the surface brightness is only 16.6 mag.

The nebula is already 37,000 years old. With a dimension of 5.3 ‘x 5.3‘, the

actual size about 3.5 light years.

This glows almost exclusively in the light of the doubly ionized oxygen. A ha-alpha area can only be seen in a nebula filament south of PK 104 -29.1.

The central star 3UC241-308979 with 16.65mag is the turquoise star in the star group in the middle of the nebula. The distance from the central star is

808 pc which corresponds to 2634 light years.

There is also a bright quasar very close to PK 104 -29.1, [VV2006] J233604.7 + 302355. It has a redshift of z = 2.094, which corresponds to a distance of over 9 billion light years with a Hubble constant of 74.3 km / s / MPc.

At 17.7 Rmag, this is the brightest of a dozen quasars that are in this image section.
