Description

This image is the sum of 1599 60 secs unguided subs taken during the nights of the 1st, 10th, 13th and 16th October 2021 with a Canon 70-200 F4 lens (at 200 FL), an ASI 533 and an Ioptron Smart Eq from my home terrace, located in a Bortle 8 sky. The night of the 1st of October I have used an Optolong Extreme filter (narrowband) - remaining nights an Idas LPS 2 filter (broadband). Images taken during the nights of the 1st and 10th October has been already processed and result is here:

However I have decided to make a new image to include all te over 26 hours exposures. Aquisition with Astroart, stacking with DSS, processing with Astroart (crop and gradient removal) and PS  (curves, levels, star rounding).

After so long using I can tell that Ioptron Smart EQ is a very nice mount at such short focal lenghts. I don't even do a proper polar allignment and it works very well. ASI 533 is a wonderful camera. Very clean and sensitive.

The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224 and originally the Andromeda Nebula, is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years (770 kiloparsecs) from Earth and the nearest large galaxy to the Milky Way. The galaxy's name stems from the area of Earth's sky in which it appears, the constellation of Andromeda, which itself is named after the Ethiopian (or Phoenician) princess who was the wife of Perseus in Greek mythology.
