Recently I posted a poster of the Griffiths Planetary List (GPL), a list published by Martin Griffiths in his excellent 2012 book, “Planetary Nebulae”. The Griffiths Planetary List consists of 45 bright PN ranging from +82 to -24 declination. Although his list is excellent, he intentionally left out some of the best PN in the sky: 4 Messier PNs, and 5 southerly PNs with declinations ranging from -34 to -40 degrees declination. So this poster includes all 45 of the GPL objects, plus the 4 Messier PN, plus the 5 southerly PN, for a total of 54 objects. All of these are bright enough to make good eyepiece viewing, as well as good imaging.

The poster shows each PN roughly to scale. Each image is accompanied by primary designation, common nickname (if there is one), size (in arc-seconds and light years), magnitude, distance (in thousands of light years), and declination. I sourced the size information from my images, the magnitude information from Griffith’s book, and the distance information from various sources.
