Description

Captured in 3 days spread out over 3 months I tried to capture the faint tidals of NGC 5907. According to an article by D. Mart´ınez-Delgado et. al. (https://www.cosmotography.com/images/ngc5907_def.pdf) the mean surface brightness of the tidals is as low as 27.7 mag/arcsec^2. Hence I only managed to get the brighest area show up on my image taken from a Bortle 4 zone.

Still then it is very faint and you need to look closely to see it. Because of the extremely low SNR I decided not to boost it any further.

Workflow:

RGB:

HT, ArcsinhStretch, Curves, ACDNR, Convolution, HT

L:

Integrated with drizzle integration.

DBE, Deconvolution with deringing, Denoise with J. Rista method (using darkarchons and my script), stretch with HT, HDRMT, MLT (sharpening and noise reduction)

Combine L and RGB to LRGB.

LRGB:

ColorSaturation, ACDNR, USM, Curves. Rescale back close to pre-drizzle resolution.
