Description

Had to try M97 now that I can get some RGB images with the new scope. I knew that it was a challenging target, not many really appreciate this wonderful object, maybe because not many details can be made out like that crab for example. Still, M97 has something that I really like.

I looked up images of M97 here on Astrobin to see how far I can come in comparison, interesting to say the least. Some images were extremely "manipulated" to make the most out of it, I decided to keep it as best as possible "natural" (if you can say that in any form when taking narrow band images).

The OIII channel revealed the outer very faint ring, it did not come out that "well" in the final image, I believe I would need some more integration time for that to be able to screen that one in, it was too blotchy.

For my "image of the week" I am happy, but now I am really low on data for new ones, luckily the weather forecast for the next week looks nice, narrow band time again since the moon will be out, and maybe in the early morning my first RGB trials on galaxies, galaxy season is coming closer!
