Description

The waxing gibbous moon (64.5% illuminated) on March 23, 2021. Continuing to play around with using my white light solar rig (minus the Herschel wedge) for lunar imaging. These images were captured with a one-shot color camera through a UV-IR cut filter. I made my first attempt at a 'mineral moon' image by boosting the color saturation repeatedly in PixInsight. Not nearly as interesting a color scheme as the mineral moon images seen on Astrobin these days, will need to work on my processing...

Imaged with a Astro-Tech AT60ED, with and without 2.5x Televue Powermate, Baader UV-IR cut Filter, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/6 (360mm FL) without the powermate and ~F/15 (FL=900mm) w/ the 2.5x powermate. Image capture using Firecapture. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of 1000 frames). Processed in Registax (initial wavelet sharpening), Microsoft Image Explorer (panorama generated from 5 sub images for the f/15 version), color saturation boost using PixInsight, and Topaz Sharpen AI (additional sharpening).
