Description

This is an older image that I've not yet posted. Imaging began on the 23rd and I'd not yet heard of the discovery of the supernova. I finished capture of images on the 30th and had still not yet heard of the supernova. While studying the Ha regions and comparing to a 2013 version of the same area, I noticed a difference in the "star" where the supernova was and did some research on it only to find that it was the closest of this type of supernova to be found in 42 years. Very exciting to see this at the time as you can only imagine what it would be like observing within the galaxy itself "from a safe distance of course" .
