Description

My second image with the new camera, this time with a IR-Cutoff (i. e. Neodymium which slightly enhances some lines in addition of blocking IR). I integrated the subs i took the day before, but decided to upload this one as a new image and not a revision. The reason is that i changed the FoV and the galaxy looks completely different than without the filter, so in my eyes this is a completely new image than the one before. And - as expected - the Neodymium adds more blue and red to the image and is a bit harder to color-calibrate, but the colors are more intensive i think.

Funny thing: I figured out that the QHY contains some sort of internal filter-chamber. The camera is clamped, not screwed to the optical train. At that point where you clamp the cam there is a thread where you, if you own the right adapter, can attach a filter without adding any mm to the distance between camera and reducer (or simple said: You can attach a filter without changing the optical length). I doubt that this is intentionally, but it is perfect for me, because the Riccardi-Reducer is very, very sensitive when it comes to distances. So i can change my filters without worrying of distances! Great! Maybe i'll post an image of that solution.
