Description

I always had the Sombrero Galaxy, M104, on my list, but so little time and so many clouds. I should have captured in January when it is above 40 degrees. Anyway, with Cinco de Mayo on May 5, I thought let me try. I found it was between 40 and 25 degrees between 9:30pm and 12:30am, directly pointing at the light pollution dome of LA. With limited data, my new ASI2600MM and LRGB filters, this is my attempt at this marvelous unbarred spiral galaxy. About 800 billion stars. To calm the background, I used some suggestions from Alan Brunelle which are a workflow improvement for me. Actually, I did very little processing in this image. I definitely will try this galaxy again next January. Happy Cinco de Mayo!
