Description

This object is a dark nebula located in the constellation of Scorpius at a declination of -30 degrees. I don't believe that this nebula has any designation, despite the fact that a number of less interesting Barnard-designated dark nebulae surrounds this one.

I saw this nebula while scanning through the SIMBAD sky atlas and I thought it would be an interesting subject. I like its shape and how it stands out from the dense starfield surrounding it, especially in the full resolution view.

I am tempted to suggest a name for its unique shape, but I leave that to more imaginative folks than myself.
