Melotte 15 est un amas ouvert d'étoiles situé au centre de la nébuleuse du Coeur (IC 1805), dans la constellation de Cassiopée.
On y retrouve des nuages stellaires, lesquels sont dominés par du gaz ionisé d'hydrogène (couleur rouge/marron/brun).
Melotte 15 s'étant formées il n'y a plus de 1,5 million d'années, les étoiles de l'amas sont au centre de cette image, avec de sombres nuages de poussières se découpant en silhouette sur fond de gaz lumineux.
Des images à plus grand champ révèlent pourquoi on donne aussi à IC 1805, du fait de son apparence générale moins tourmentée, le nom de nébuleuse du Coeur.
IC 1805 est à quelque 7500 années-lumière de nous, dans la constellation de Cassiopée.

English Version

Melotte 15 is an open star cluster located at the center of the Heart nebula (IC 1805), in the constellation Cassiopeia.
There are stellar clouds, which are dominated by ionized hydrogen gas (red / brown / brown color).
Melotte 15 having formed over 1.5 million years ago, the stars of the cluster are at the center of this image, with dark clouds of dust silhouetted against silhouette on glowing gas background.
Wider field images reveal why IC 1805, due to its less troubled general appearance, is also called the Heart Nebula.
IC 1805 is some 7,500 light years away, in the constellation Cassiopeia.

If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
