Description

Having just received my second hand Canon 200mm f2.4 lens in the post, I couldn't resist giving it a try on eta Carina for my fifth astrophotographs. Conditions were poor and I had to rely on the previous nights polar alignment (aided by the grooves in my deck) to get an approximate south.

Perhaps a brave move for my first photo at 200mm focal length, but I attempted no heroics with the integration time (30secs). In the end I got two lots of 100 x 30sec exposures and this is the result of the first tranche. The signs of the less-than-ideal tracking are there, but the lens seems very good indeed.
