Description

NGC 7076 happens to be the last of the PNs in the NGC/IC catalogs that I imaged before "The Great Lapse" when I gave up (temporarily, as it turned out) on astrophotography. This was the last of the PN in the NGC/IC catalogs of the northern hemisphere and I considered then my work (or quest, if you like) done. And the gear gave up on me, too.

I tried this one in 2009 with the UHC filter but I wasn't particularly happy with the results (terrible flat fielding) running the scope at f/7.8. Then I tried again in 2012 at a more modest focal length and use a mixture of various filters, most importantly OIII.

Luminance is a combination of all the frames with the different filters and the RGB is obtained by adding H-alpha to R and OIII in equal parts to the G and B channels.

Overall, I find this PN having an eerie and ghostly look to it. Just my impression.
