Description

M16 is a tricky object to photograph with an unmodified DSLR, mainly when using a widefield lens. With the presence of a crowded field, the absence of gradients helped me a lot in achieving an interesting color balance. Also, the amount of emission nebulae was really unexpected. I only invested 2 nights in this object and I am very happy with the final result. At first, I hesitated to try this region without modifying my camera, but now I see that if you have great skies, it's worth the try!

Particularly, I find the zoomed in view interesting. I higly reccomend opening the image in full resolution and drift through this busy and colorful starfield. I processed in the most natural way and without intervention, to maintain the quality when giving a considerable zoom to the pillars of creation and the omega nebula. Revision B is therefore a slightly lowered histogram version, to provide better contrast for the bright core of these nebulae, or if you have a brighter screen.
