Description

Messier 86 (on the lower left) and Messier 84 (mid right) are elliptical galaxies in the constellation of Virgo. The smaller elliptical galaxy at mid bottom is NGC 4387. M86 lies around 52 million light years away and has an apparent magnitude of 9.3. These ellipticals have a large number of globular clusters (M86 has an esimated 3800) in the halo, some of which can be faintly seen in the image.

Optics: Celestron EdgeHD 1100 on Paramount MX

Camera: Sbig STL-11000 for RGB

Optics: Starizona Hyperion f/8 12.5 inch, FL 2540 mm on Paramount ME

Camera: Apogee U8300 for Lum

Guiding: ST-402 on Innovations Foresight On-Axis Guider and STL-11000 Self guiding

Exposure: LRGB: L:48x10 min R:10x10 min, G:11x10 min, B:11x10 min for a total of 13.3 hrs (80 subs at avg of 600 sec) RGB bin 2

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop.
