Description

For the first light with my new scope I decided to capture the Nebulosity between ξ Cygni and α Cygni(Deneb) including most notably NGC 7000 (North America Nebula) and IC 5070/5067 (Pelican Nebula).

Other notable objects include the rather boring star clusters NGC 6996 and 6989 as well as the slightly less boring star cluster NGC 6997.

The North America and Pelican Nebulas are both hydrogen-alpha emission nebulas, which are characterized typically by high star density and lots of star formation. They are estimated to be ~2,200 light years and ~1,800 light years away respectively and combined they take up space in the night sky about 4 times that of the moon.
