Description

NGC 5033 contains a super-massive black hole, which is not unusual, but the black hole is offset from the rotational center of the galaxy, which is unusual. This is thought to have resulted from a galaxy merger in the past. That may also account for the distorted arm that is inclined to the rotational plane and the M64-like black eye in the core. No suspect has been named in the galaxy merger!

The activity and interest here is in the core - the arms are dim and don't show much activity. Ha data was helpful but more in the core than arms.

I reduced my sub duration from 600 to 300 seconds due to a periodic guiding issue. This is most likely a cable issue. Going from 10 to 5 minute subs gave me more un-affected subs and allowed me to keep most of the affected subs via rejection. The guiding issue only lasts a few seconds so only star cores are displaced. While I would like to go fix the problem, that requires an airplane flight....
