Description

This object is a dark nebula located in the constellation of Cepheus at a declination of +57 degrees. Like many dark nebula, I could not find any information on this object. Barnard 395 is part of the IC 1396 emission complex.

The nebula width is 22 arc-minutes, a bit smaller than the width of our full moon. It is a wonder to me how a dark cloud shaped like this one could develop. Parts of the cloud are so thick that it obscures all of the stars from the dense star background.

Outside of the nebula, a much less dense field of dust fills the background and slightly reddens the stars.
