Description

There are several interesting observational topics in this region of the Oceanus Procellarum, such as Vallis Schroederi or the long trails Rimae Aristarchus. The dominant element of this area is the Aristarchus crater.

Vallis Schroederi is a large winding valley that begins north of the Herodotus crater (a lava-filled crater). It recalls the dry bed of a stream depicting multiple meanders. Its initial curve seems to draw a cobra head. Its length is about 160 km.

Aristarchus is an exceptionally clear crater, home to a radiant system. It is believed to be about 450 million years old.

Prinz is the remnant of a crater overrun with lava. North of it one can note a system of sinuous grooves Rimae Prinz.

Mare Imbrium is criss-crossed by a network of clear trails mainly from the craters Copernicus (not visible here) and Aristarchus.
