Description

I wanted to see if I could get a better close-up image of M1 by using the C6 at F4.6 (690 mm FL) and the 178MM camera at bin 1x1, rather than the C6 at F7.1/7.3 (that is 1070-1100 mm FL) and the 178 MM at bin 2x2, which would be like imaging bin 1x1 at 550 mm.
Well it came out worse than it, maybe because of the simple achromatic 0.5x (plus extra spacing) used in this case as opposed to the more sophisticated 0.63x SCT specific focal reducer used for the other.
Stars look bloated and M1 blurry, like a bit out of focus, but I think I couldn't really get a significantly better focus.
Light collection was quite larger (and also at a faster focal ratio) than the F7.1 case, nevertheless the old image looks better from any point of view.
May try this setup again, but probably to achieve the best resolution the 0.63x SCT focal reducer is better.

P.S.
I made a comparison with this one ... I was just out of focus ... sh...ame, I have to be more careful next time.
