Description

This is my first image after returning to the hobby after about 3 years away!  I've forgotten a lot and had to reconstruct or purchase a bit of gear.  I have not cropped the image at all to eliminate the regions of coma or other errors.  This is done so that maybe folks can help me diagnose the problems.  As there's no coma corrector, that is the first, obvious problem.  The lower right corner of the image has some funny stars, though as well.

This is a stack of unguided subframes.  My guiding equipment is not functional yet, so I was limited to 30s subs.  I'm also learning how best to use the ASI1600 camera.  This gain setting was recommended in a few places as having good dynamic range.

The Andromeda galaxy is about 2.5 million light years away.  At the time the light left this galaxy on its journey to us, the earth was just beginning to form an arctic ice cap [source].

Description: Redid the whole post-processing. This time, I was more attentive to the bad regions which, after reading up on StarTools Wipe module, is very critical to get right. This one does not need a black-point adjustment.

The target still needs a lot more integration time.
