Description

My home is nowhere close to the forest fires that continue to ravage California and Oregon, but the winds have blown the smoke all the way to the Eastern U.S. and out over the Atlantic. But I have a new telescope, and the excitement that comes from a new telescope can lead to us image even when we "shouldn't". When I captured the data for this image, Mars was the only "star" visible in our sky! Jupiter was a total bust, but the mostly red light of Mars seemed to pierce the smoke much better than the broadly emitting Jupiter (100 fps vs 20)!
