Description

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. At a distance of around 160 kly it is one of the closest galaxies to the Milky Way.  It is roughly one-hundredth the mass of the Milky Way and is the fourth-largest galaxy in the Local Group, after the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), the Milky Way, and the Triangulum Galaxy (M33).

This was especially hard to process even with the fantastic remote data from Telescope Live. This is one of the first data sets from the Australian observatory using the new QHY600 cameras. This is one of my first images using PI and the amazing BlurXterminator. It's also my first shot at HaRGB. The learning process never seems to stop with this hobby. Enjoy!
