Description

NGC 1514, also known as the Crystal Ball nebula, PK165-15.2, PN G165.5-15.2 and ARO 21 is a rather dim planetary in Taurus but shows plenty of detail in longer focal lengths. This image was taken from 8 Sep 20 through 19 Nov 20 and is comprised of 20.5hrs of data through LRGB, Ha and OIII filters using a Stellarvue SVX 152T and ASI 6200 camera. The image is a crop of a much larger field around NGC 1514. The image was exposed with 2x2 binning but I drizzled it up to the native 1x1 size of 60 mp and .64 arc sec/pixel. You can see the full 60mp image frame and an annotated version at the link above. The area around NGC 1514 is full of faint dust. Some of it shows up on the full frame image but I also included a inverted image on my webpage showing the faint dust throughout the image.
