Description

Missing the time of the Milky Way Arch in the morning hours... this time I decided to re-edit the image from last spring with some additional techniques of Pixinsight that improved the colours and some details of the Milky Way.

During spring months Milky Way Core starts to appear in the early morning sky in the southeast so it becomes possible to photograph the whole Milky Way Arch almost at 180 degrees angle from north to the south. I chose Pico de la Cruz, one of the summits of La Palma Island as a location to spend the night of shooting. Around 4 a.m. Milky Way was high enough in the sky so I was able to start shooting at 50mm and got pretty decent arch shape in the post processing without any distortion of the surrounding stars. Although the place was very windy protecting my gear with clothes, I was able to make some sharp shots. All these colours of the Arch, green airglow emission, purely dark sky and the lights of neighbouring Tenerife Island  on the horizon become visible and remind me that unforgettable experience.

Sky: 7 images stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker (noise reduction), 40 panels 50% overlap blended  in Photoshop. Settings: 50mm, f2.8, eep. 15sec, ISO 6400, light pollution filter - Optolong Clear Sky

Foreground: 1 image taken with a use of in camera Long exposure noise reduction, 33 panels 50%overlap blended in Lightroom. Settings: 50mm, f1.4, exp. 1min, ISO 800, no light pollution filter
