Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is quartet of galaxies all about 300 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +67 degrees.

The largest galaxy, the near edge-on spiral at left, is NGC 6676.    This large galaxy spans 1.7 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 150,000 light years.  The core of this galaxy is offset slightly to the left. The structure looks intriguing but it is only a few degrees off edge-on so we can’t see much of it besides an apparent ring structure and a few bright blue star clusters.  It is not apparent that this galaxy is interacting with the 3 galaxies on the right side.

The trio of galaxies on the right side all appear disturbed and are likely interacting.  NGC 6677 is the barred grand spiral with VV rows in both arms and a few bright star clouds.

Just to the right are a pair of small galaxies, NGC 6679 and LEDA 62029.  A faint stellar bridge appears to connect these 2 galaxies.

At bottom center is the somewhat irregular galaxy LEDA 2694222, for which no distance information is given.
