Description

This spiral galaxy is located 60 million light years away in the constellation of Camelopardalis at a declination of +78 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.5 galaxy which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 70,000 light years.

We are viewing this galaxy at about 30 degrees from edge-on, with the near side at our lower left.  Some disturbance is seen in the outer arms, where the blue star clouds seem distorted.  Several small faint galaxies are seen nearby.
