Description

M82, or the Cigar Galaxy, lies about 12 million light years away from us in the contstellation Ursa Major. It is a special type of galaxy, known as a starburst galaxy - it is interacting gravitationally with its neighbour, M81, leading to star formation 10 times faster than normal galaxies.

Taken earlier in 2022 amid a burst of clear nights and amongst other galaxy captures, some of which I've also posted.

Thank you for looking!

Title: BlurXT Edit

Description: Complete reprocess using RC-Astro tools, BlurXT (plus some small scale LHE) and NoiseXT. My goodness, what a difference...I'm always concerned about oversharpening, but the structures check out comparing to the Hubble image! I soundly regret not capturing Ha data last year...that will be rectified this year for sure!
