Description

This was one of the worst seeing condition ever experienced, but good for a comparison under a worst-case scenario. The globe is a mosaic of six panels at FL=750mm, 3ms @gain 100 in 8-bit mono, 1.5x drizzled with IR742nm pass filter.

Revision B: FL=1500mm, 26ms, @gain 100 in 8-bit mono with IR742nm pass filter, 1.5x drizzled.

Revision D: Comparing UV/IR-cut and IR742nm pass filters.

In spite of 4 times longer exposure time, the IR-pass filter yielded a more detailed and sharper result, though subtle.

All images are 400 out of 2000 frames.

Conclusion: have a good-night drink when seeing is poor and the target object hardly 33° above horizon.
