Description

NGC 7822 is a young star formation complex in the constellation Cepheus that includes an emission region designated Sharpless 171 and a young star cluster called Berkeley 59.
The SH2-171 complex also includes one of the brightest and hottest stars known to us, BD + 66 1673, which is an eclipsing system of two super-giants that exhibit a surface temperature of nearly 45,000K and a brightness approximately 100,000 times that of the Sun.
The "Little Rosette" nebula, also known as SH2-170, is the H2 region located in the constellation Cassiopeia. This region of gas and dust is about 7,500 light-years away in the Perseus arm of our Milky Way galaxy. The bright star in the nebula's center ionizes the surrounding hydrogen and causes it to glow.
