Description

This target has given me quite a headache. I shot it in five sessions. In the first session, I forgot to set the gain right and it was left at 0, so the SNR is just too low to be useful. The second session went okay but the object was too faint to be done in five hours. So I had to keep shooting. After the third session, I stacked the image and found serious walking noise in the image that cannot be fixed in post-processing. So I kept shooting more.  Last week I went to a dark site for two nights and continued on the target. Finally, the walking noise is gone and the SNR is strong enough.  But the molecule cloud LBN 437 is still quite undefined, even though my accumulative time now has reached 19 hours.  It finally dawn on me that all this time I have been using the wrong filter. To show the molecule cloud I should have used a broadband filter instead of the Antlia  ALP-T dual-band filter.  Well, maybe I will keep on going with a broadband filter for more time. But the emission nebula itself is nice. So here it is, for now.
