Description

A collection of NGC objects (mostly nebulae) in a small section of the Large Magellanic Cloud. Taken as an exercise in seeing how deep one can go with this fairly modest setup while still keeping to the EAA principle of "live" on-screen viewing. The immediate view after the first of the 3 minute unguided exposures for SharpCap's live-stack was pretty much the same as this slightly tweaked Photoshop version.

NASA / Hubble have a very interesting image and video of NGCs 2014 and 2020 seen at the centre-top of this image. Well worth a visit if you haven't seen them.

NGCs 1955, 1968 and 1974 form the large complex of star clusters and red emission nebulae to the left. The three bright green patches of NGCs 2029, 2032 and 2035 make up the Southern Seagull facing right with its wings half outstretched. To its right is the star cluster 2040 and associated nebulae. Faint open cluster NGC 2053 is just above half-way down near the right hand side and bright open cluster NGC 2011 is at the centre of the image. Not far from the bottom-right corner is NGC 2041. All references that I can find describe it as an open cluster but even so it looks very like a globular cluster.
