      Description

My first 60+ hr project! Gum 10 (RCW 19) represented in SHO with RGB stars. This particular nebula doesn't seem to get much attention from us astrophotographers but it sure has some beauty to show-off for those willing to give it a go!
In early February 2022 I was on the lookout for another summer target because, with all the clear skies we've had, I completed by previous projects (Gum 5 and Gum 15) earlier than I thought. In continuation of my obsession with Gum targets, I browsed the options and did some test exposures on a few candidates and settled on Gum 10 because it responded well to all three SHO filters (although [SII] and [OIII] were much weaker than H-alpha) and was a decent angular size. So, to do it some justice decided to go all in with the data acquisition. After spending the better part of a Saturday on processing, this is what I came up with.

Title: Gum 10 in SHO with RGB stars

Description: Ok so I probably didn't "really" need to do a revision of this one as it's already an IOTD winner! But from time to time I like to revisit old data and apply new-found techniques. In this case, I've been using a different way of blending SHO channels that overall gives a larger range of colors and shades with smoother transitions between colors. When applied to Gum 10, I liked the result but always curious to know what other folks here think.
