Description

Galaxies Messier 81 & 82 with the integrated flux nebula around them. IFLs are high galactic latitude nebulae that are illuminated not by a single star but by the energy from the integrated flux of all the stars in the Milky Way. They lie beyond the main body of our galaxy.

This image is composed of 12x10 min L and 6x10 min RGB exposures (5 hours total). CCD camera SBIG STL-11000, Pentax 105 SDP apo refractor. Taken from Petrova gora international dark sky park, Croatia.
