Description

This is my first light captured from my Canon EOS Rebel T7 with a Rokinon 135mm f/2 lense. I captured this in my backyard on a cold south texas night following a historic winter storm. Normally the skies are Bortle 7, but between with the rolling blackouts it may have been a bit darker.

I started with f/2 and focused on a bright star then stepped it down from there to get a 3/4 histogram. Total integration time was 80x60s @ ISO 200 approximately f/2.8. Calibrated with darks, flats, and bias.

I spent about 4 hours processing between blackouts to get this image and am anxious for feedback on how it turned out.

Tips, comments and constructive feedback are much appreciated.

Acquisition - What are some things I can do to assist with locating DSOs if I don't have a GOTO mount or a guide scope?

Processing - What is the typical workflow? Stacking->Background Extraction->Curves/Levels? What are some resources I can use to up my game?

Framing - I realize, living in Bortle 7 skies that I may require relatively long integrations. For those that take images over several nights, what are some tips / software I can use to help get consistent framing.

Software - Acquisition software recommendations for MAC users?
