Description

This barred spiral galaxy NGC 4731 is about 65 million light-years away in the Virgo Cluster. Its spiral arms have undergone distortion by gravitational interaction with NGC 4697, which is out of sight below the bottom of this frame. The small galaxy to the right of NGC 4731 is the irregular galaxy 4731A
