Description

I was totally excited about the Mercury transit. I took the day off at work to have the opportunity to catch an image, but i expected a lot of clouds. But i was lucky, there were only thin, high clouds for about 45 mins. Then thicker clouds made it impossible to take more images. But in these 45 minutes i was able to gather about 100 GB of imaging data. I was so lucky, all around me were clouds (you can see this on image D), but i had a corridor to SSW that made imaging possible (marked the corridor in yellow). Lucky i am...

While the transit was ongoing (and the sun walked lower and lower to the horizon) i became aware that a lot of the boughes (can be seen in image C) will become a problem. So my saviour was a big Fiskars PowerGear X lopper. It took me no time to cut everything down. I am not sure what my wife will say about it, so if you don't hear from me anymore... :-)

Joke aside, i could even see Mercury through my little 8x32 Lunt Sunoculars with my own eyes. That was amazing!
