Description

There are big projects, and then there are big and daunting projects. The Heart Nabulawould not have fit into my field of view even as a two-panel mosaic. So I decided to make a four-panel mosaic (2x2). Four panels with 6 channels each: SHO + RGB. Each panel has exposure as follows:

Ha: 3.5h
O-III: 2.5h
S-II: 3h
RGB: 1h
= 10h

In total, the image accumulated exposure for exactly 40 hours, which is a new record for me. The second record was in how many nights one image has been exposed: Data for this project was collected from 17 different nights, starting on November 21, including e.g. all Christmas and New Year, and ending today 8.1. For this, I took advantage of a lot of nights that weren’t really photographable: I was able to use automation to shoot individual frames from small openings over several nights.
