Description

This image presents a beautiful colorful extremely wide field in the centre of the Milky Way. The contrast of the old yellow partially-unresolved stars of the Milky Way, the dark clouds of dust, the bright ionized gas and the bright young stars make a exquisite composition. This image could fit more than 30 full moons in its diagonal, and was taken with an ordinary 135mm photographic lens and DSLR camera atop a simple tracking mount. I was fascinated with the strong golden hue that emanates from the Milky Way, in a visually pleasant diagonal framing, making it a beautiful stellar landscape, which I cannot help but see it as a stunning stellar tapestry.

Here is another result from my 2021 imaging season! [and there are lots more incoming] This is a quick wide field, acquired with relatively modest equipment under great sky conditions. My goal was to emphasize the golden colour of the Milky Way, which was so striking in this framing, in a balacing act with all the stars and nebulosity (both dark and bright). I recommend opening the image in full resolution and getting lost in the starscape as I did during processing
