Description

Second attempt on capturing ISS using hand tracking. May 14, 4:30 EDT

This time this is much better than my first attempt. Instead of 1% successful rate (got ISS in the frame completely), this time I got a 15% successful rate. Before the manual guiding this time, I spent probably 4 hours studying and testing software that can track satellites, my conclusion is that my mount is not responding fast enough to keep the target within the very small field of view of my camera.

So at 4am, I decided to manually track it again.

Next time I know I will do another better job, maybe using a shorter exposure time and testing it out with an 8" scope on an equatorial mount with the help of the software.

 Scope: Skywatcher Synscan 14" Dobsonian
Camera: Player One Mars-C
Exposure: 1ms 200gain
