Description

Wow, I was just blown away the first time I saw this image after star removal!!! As a physician, I have a special place in my heart (pun intended) for anatomical appearing structures, but this one takes the cake. The sweeping nebulosity and then the dramatic emphasis that the star reduction creates on the various pillar formations is incredible and the detail when at 1:1 just gets that much better. I keep finding myself starring at the image.

IC 1805 is a open cluster of stars surrounded by an mesmerizing hydrogen emission nebula in the constellation of the Cassiopeia. Located in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way, the nebula is a 7,500 light years from earth.
