RCW 38 is a massive star cluster in Vela, that contains many young stars and many short-lived stars. This cluster is the youngest and most densely packed star cluster in our region of the galaxy. The intense radiation from the young stars and the intense winds from the newly forming and recently demised stars have illuminated and sculpted the clouds that nurtured those stars.

In this image, the cluster lies just to the left of the Rocky-Horror-Picture-Show lips, concealed by the dark clouds.
