Description

While killing time waiting for my target to rise above the trees I decided to add some points to the CPWI pointing model for my mount. After adding about 10 new points and weeding out some bad points I noticed that my model was now accurate to about 1 arc-minute. This gave me the idea to shoot a close-up on NGC-206.

The challenge is targeting with a 1400 mm fl scope inside a galaxy. Plate solving inside the Andromeda galaxy is difficult, but with my current pointing model I decided to try a simple point and shoot. It worked!

The OB association NGC 206 is the most conspicuous star cloud in the Andromeda Galaxy. Here it is up close. I have increased the contrast of this area to accent the dust lanes and the NGC 206 "cluster".
