Description

This is my process of the Sunflower Galaxy - data from the Misti Mountain Observatory webpage, acquired by Jim Misti in March 2005. This data was taken using a 32" f/7.2 RCT, a type of instrument that I will likely never personally own. So I'm grateful to Jim for making this high quality data publicly available for all to process.

Messier 63, or the Sunflower Galaxy, is about 27 million LY away from the solar system. It is a type of galaxy known as a flocculent spiral. The NASA webpage (https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/messier-63-the-sunflower-galaxy) has more detail on this, along with a beautiful high resolution Hubble image.
