Description

The southern highlands lead to the Sea of Tranquillity, made famous in the Apollo 11 landing. This native f10 (2000mm) image does not identify the telltale craters of Aldrin, Armstrong, and Collins.

Description: Here's a similar view of these three craters using 26mm eyepiece projection (~5000mm focal length). The evening light falling on a 6 day old moon is lovely accentuating the individual central peaks in Cyrillus and Theophilus, and the deep shadows as you move towards the terminator. Using the shadows, you can imagine the terrain, as you stare up at the crater rims... endlessly fascinating... and for someone else to enjoy.

It would be quite a hike, across 64 miles of rugged, impact scoured terrain, with two central peaks to bag, of approximately 6,000 feet, and a final scramble up the 18,000 foot rim! [https://the-moon.us/wiki/Theophilus]
